There are very few moments in Asphalt 6 that will strike you as too hard to pass, but you will be replaying levels over and over go get more drift points or more cars "eliminated."įans of the Need For Speed series will also be happy to see that there are some solid car upgrades to be had throughout. The controls are similarly arcade focused, using only an automatic accelerator, a brake button (turn while breaking to go into a drift), and a boost button. It has oncoming trafic that you can "nearly miss" to collect extra dollars, places to get some dollar producing airtime, some nitro boosts floating around the track, plenty of places to drift, even when you don't need to, and plenty of shortcuts. The game itself plays just about like any Need For Speed type game on the iPhone. Crazy speed effects do make the game quite entertaining, but don't go in thinking that you are going to be looking at the next Real Racing 2. The engine explodes in sound at high RPM's and the adrenaline boosts (turbo) look like they are straight out of TRON. When you are going fast in Asphalt 6, it feels like you are going really fast. What is does have is raw speed, and the graphics do a great job of showing it. It doesn't have pixel perfect cut scenes or cars that almost look better than the real thing. Unlike the other recent Gameloft games though, Asphalt 6 doesn't seem so pretty it hurts. Being the 6th game in the series, there wasn't much studying to do, but Asphalt 6 still feels like a reiteration of the EA classic, complete with snappy graphics, turbo boosts, and plenty of oncoming traffic. Multiplayer is available locally through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and online multiplayer is supported as well.Asphalt 6 is made by Gameloft, which means that the development team thoroughly studied Need For Speed before production. Successful races usually require mastering drifts, ramming rivals and using short-cuts. Drifting is done by tapping the brake while turning and another tap stops the drift. Tapping the left side of the screen activates braking and tapping the right side activates boost. On mobile devices the game can be controlled by tilting the device for steering along with auto-acceleration. When the nitro meter is hit when filled up completely by racing through nitro symbols, double tapping (for touch based devices) provides an extreme speed boost and gives the screen a blue-tinted blur. The distinct feature for this entry is the Adrenaline mode from the title. There are Regular Races where a third place is needed to qualify, Beat'em All where opponents need to be knocked down as much as possible in a limited time frame, Elimination where the last racer is removed after a set amount of time repeated, Time Attack, Drift (also against a time limit), Duel (only one opponent), Collector where items need to be collected against a time limit and Under Pressure where other racers attempt to destroy you. Progression through the game is done through different types of events. Most of them can be tuned along with customized colours. At the start a limited amount of vehicles is available (Abarth 500 SS, DeLorean DMC-12, MINI John Cooper Works and Nissan Nizmo 370Z) and additional ones, including motorcycles, are unlocked by completing events. The Android version has additional venues exclusive to the platform: Detroit, Hong Kong and Rio de Janeiro. It offers races for 42 licensed cars for locations all around the world including Cape Town, Chamonix, Havana, Los Angeles, Monte Carlo, Moscow, Nassau, New Orleans, New York City, Reykjavík, Shanghai and Tokyo. Asphalt 6: Adrenaline is an entry in the arcade racing series.
